Too much to do. Not enough time! Let's do this!
Hey you scrumptious strawberries! I kind of hit the ground running on the first because Realitybunny, Sambeawesome, and me are doing the Disney Drawing Challenge! It's a 1-month event completely centered around Disney where we have a list of prompts that will be fulfilled with drawings and a dash of YouTube videos included. I will be streaming on YouTube multiple times throughout the month and I will try to upload them to DA. I'm a bit picky with what I upload so I dunno about all of them but we'll see ;D. If you would like to follow and see me post them you can follow me on Instagram Berryzem or Twitter @Berryzem32. You can learn more about the challenge in the video alone (ps Zemmy makes an appearance ;D) It's going to be a two-birds with one stone for Zemmy News and YouTube. It's open to everyone so if you would like to participate, just follow the prompts, and then tag your piece #disneydrawingchallenge2017
Tutorial Corner:
I found this helpful for some lighting techniques. It goes over some basic analogous color theory as well. Concepts can be applied digitally and traditionally:
Have a fun and safe Independence Day and summer everyone! Until next time!

When Things Go Awry
Hello you scrumptious strawberries! I hope your holiday season is going well ♥ I wanted to take this moment to give some updates, talk a little about my comic, and talk a bit about moving forward. Fair warning, this has been a rough year for me so it does deal with animal death and other hard topics so if you aren't in the headspace to keep reading, this is your chance to practice some self care. Please do click away if you need to. Thank you for checking in and I hope you have a lovely rest of your year and can look forward to a wonderful 2024. To those of you still here, thank you for your time. In retrospect, it's safe to say 2020 was a difficult year for all of us given the circumstances. I count myself lucky, though. I only had one friend who experienced long covid, and, as far as I know, she has since recovered. Most of my family either didn't get the 'vid or it wasn't too serious of a case. Thankfully, I've been vaccinated since it was first released in 2021 and got a booster

Given the title of this journal if you are not in a place to be reading this, you know yourself best. Take care of yourselves. For those of you brave enough to venture into this with an open heart and mind, I thank you. Simply put, I am a mixed Palestinian American. My dad was born in Jerusalem and emigrated at 20 years old to the United States knowing next to no English. He went to college and got an Associate's degree and managed to create not one but two successful businesses mainly as a sole proprietor. I remember my sister and I growing up and occasionally helping him with his janitorial business dumping trash bins in one of the office buildings, and we both joked about the one lady's bin that always had remnants of soda and used gum because it always made the bag sticky. We both hated it. I never personally met the lady the sign said was named Debbie but I'll always remember that coke and gum sticking to the bottom of the bag. It's probably one of the reasons you couldn't even
Updates, Updates Everywhere
Hello you scrumptious strawberries!!! Dear gosh it has been a while since I last wrote that. I hope life is treating you all well. It has been a blur for many these past few years, I'm sure. This is going to be a bit of an update and preview for what my plans are for 2023. For starters, it may have been many months since I last shared any art on DA, but, rest assured, I am still drawing! What, you may ask? Well… I am making a comic!!! Yes! I am doing the thing! It is indeed a massive commitment and I am in the process of working on episode 1 vertical scrolling style. This is a shameless call to anyone who has any tutorials on paneling, spacing, and time saving techniques to send them my way because oh boy is it kicking my bum lol. I will make another journal post to talk more about it and share where you can read it when the launch date draws near but yeah, it's happening. It's called Witch Girl & Cat Boy. It's about a woman who develops magical capabilities at the age of 25 and
8 Long Tips for Long-term Projects!
Hello you scrumptious strawberries! If you were following me a week or two before this journal’s publishing date, you might have noticed I posted a 9-page comic about my character Zemmy! If you are new here and don’t know what I am talking about you can read it here: http://fav.me/ddszwdl
Thanks again for everyone’s support whether it’s reading, commenting, faving, etc.
I thought I would use this journal to talk about some strategies that I used to sit down and actually do the work to complete this massive thing. Disclaimer: This is just what worked for me. If you think a particular tip might work for you, try it out
